Sara Vanderlaan is a cinematographer located in Atlanta & North Carolina.



During her time at Hempfield High School, Sara immersed herself in communications and technology courses. While honing her skills in broadcast journalism, she ventured into documentary and narrative filmmaking. Her artistic endeavors have been recognized at festivals such as the Golden Lion and Mid Atlantic National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Sara is graduating with a BFA in film studies. UNCSA's film program gave Sara the opportunity to work with industry-standard equipment on student organized film sets. Her expertise primarily lie within camera operation and assisting, though she's also well rounded in grip and electric work. Her junior year, Sara interned at Tait Towers where she expanded her knowledge on editing and projects with a quick turn around. She created content for several confidential touring artists.

Driven by a desire to expand her artistic horizons, Sara seeks out projects that challenge her comfort zone, aiming to further develop her unique vision within the realm of cinematography. She has experience with cameras such as Alexa Mini, Red Gemini, Arriflex 16, Panavision 35mm, Sony and Blackmagic. Additionally, she can drive camera vans, box trucks, and generators.
